At TLC, we believe success begins by truly understanding the students unique needs. Our staff carefully assesses the student’s strengths and weaknesses when it comes to learning and then formulates specific goals and a teaching plan to help the student become a better learner.

At TLC, treatment is individualized with one student working with one teacher. This honors the student’s learning style and processing speed. We use diagnostic testing to further determine the instruction methods to use during each lesson.
We use a variety of techniques to make learning easier, fun, and interesting. Multi-sensory techniques, involving the eyes, ears and hands working together, make it easier to remember what was learned.
We make sure the student is learning by tailoring the appropriate methods and treatment to the student’s individual goals.
We teach students to think for themselves by giving them strategies for learning that they can use on their own.
We use a cognitive approach, which means that we teach students to understand what they are learning rather than simply requiring them to memorize. When you understand why something is the way it is, you are able to conceptualize an answer rather than relying on memory alone.
